GORDON BURGETT's BIOGRAPHY
In 2003, many of Gordon's books were revised, updated, and reprinted.
These include How to Plan a Great Second Life, the Travel
Writer's Guide, Sell and Resell Your Magazine Articles. His first novel also saw
life late in that year: Lian McAndrews and the Perfect Human World.
Earlier, in late 2001, Gordon co-authored (with Dr. Jay Hislop), Life
After Dentistry: What Are You Going to Do With Your Extra 30 Years?
Gordon currently speaks nationwide about How
to Plan a Great Second Life and Life
After Dentistry, offering keynotes, break-out sessions, and
workshops at conventions, dental meetings, retreats, and universities.
* Burgett has also published 1,700+ articles and offered over 2,000
professional presentations, including dental and medical associations,
conventions nationwide, and through university extension programs. During
that time he has appeared extensively on radio and TV, as a guest author
and a publishing specialist. Burgett is a long-standing member of the National
Speakers Association, the American Society of Authors and Journalists,
and the Publishers Marketing Association; has produced 26 audio cassette
series and singles, and has written 27 books, including Standard
Marketing Procedures for Dentists, Sell and Resell Your Magazine Articles,
Publishing to Niche Markets, Treasure and Scavenger Hunts, Niche Marketing

* Gordon has owned and directed a publishing company, Communication
Unlimited, since 1981. In 1995, his company merged with Marsha Freeman�s Team Systems and
created Dental Communication Unlimited and Medical Communication Unlimited, to
begin a series of standard operating procedures manuals (and other, related
office operations products) for health care professionals.
* Burgett earned four academic degrees: B.A., University of Illinois,
Champaign-Urbana (Latin American Studies), M.A., University of Wisconsin,
Madison (Luso-Brazilian Studies), M.F.T., Thunderbird Graduate School (Foreign
Trade), and an M.A., Northern Illinois University (U.S. Intellectual History).
He was twice a university dean, taught Portuguese and history, created
a city recreation program in Illinois, directed CARE (and Peace Corps)
programs in Colombia and Ecuador (including the Land Directorship of the
HOPE ship medical/dental program in Guayaquil), twice studied in Brazil,
played professional baseball, and led a gold hunt up the Paushi Yaco (Upper
Amazon) River in Ecuador.
* Gordon is also the creator of Agemasters, a publishing imprint of
Communication Unlimited, a speaking firm about second life planning, and an
Internet acknowledgment and listing service for athletic achievements in
running, walking, cycling, swimming and wheeling.
