Importing & Scanning Resumes
Getting resumes into askSam has never been easier. You import or scan in the Resume and
instantly begin searching them. New filters let you directly import from Microsoft Word
6.0, WordPerfect 6.0, ASCII, RTF, .TXT and many more.
Database Structure
Each HR application has a data entry form for gathering structured information. Fields such as
Name, Address, Skills etc. are all provided. Changing the entry form is as simply as
editing a word processing document. If you don't need a field, delete it... If you want to
add a field...type it in. If you want it to appear in blue... change the color. It's just that
easy.
Search Methods
Powerful search capabilities provide comprehensive, almost instantaneous results. Full-text,
numeric, proximity, date, Boolean, field values, wildcard, word, phrase, are all methods
available for finding information.
Full-Text Searching
With our unique Search Key, you can find any word or phrase in your Resume database. No
need to concern yourself with fields, reports or selection criteria. Simply type in a word
or phrase and askSam will find it no matter where is may appear.
Reports
The askSam Report Writer will enable you to create great looking reports. To simplify the
process, you simply drag and drop the fields directly into the report layout screen. You
can even add dialog boxes to prompt the user for the correct input. It doesn't get any
easier!
When askSam generates a report, it appears on your screen. You can then click on any line in
the report and automatically jump to the document in your database containing this
information.
Hypertext
You can set up links within your database that let you jump from one document to another;
jump from one file to another, run reports, or create menus from which you can navigate
through askSam databases.
Multiple Users
Network versions are available when multiple staff members need concurrent access to the
resume database. The network versions provide record locking and security.
Word Processor
You can easily edit documents or text currently stored in your database using the word
processor. It also allows you to type free-form information into a new file and have this
information full-text searchable.
Bookmarks
Bookmarks let you "mark" information in your database that you may want to reference later.
You can then jump directly to your marked information without repeating the search.
